Vintage Mexican Crushed Sodalite Calla Lily Earrings

Like elegant calla lilies captured in silver and blue, these striking vintage Mexican earrings combine a long sculptural silhouette with richly colored crushed sodalite inlay. Flowing silvertone channels sweep through the deep blue stone like the folded contours of a calla lily. The earrings have a substantial, sterling-like feel and a softly curved profile that gives them dimension without excessive visual weight. They are crafted from alpaca silver, a traditional silvertone metal alloy that is not sterling unless independently tested. Each earring is marked ALPACA and hangs from a French hook. They measure approximately 2 7/8 inches tall by 1 1/8 inches wide and are in excellent condition. Curator’s Note: These earrings are particularly successful because the metalwork and stone are equally important. The cool blue sodalite defines the flower, while the sweeping silver channels give it grace and movement.
