Vintage Goldtone Scroll Clip On Earrings – Textured Door Knocker Dangles – Designer Quality Statement Earrings

Richly textured, wonderfully substantial and unmistakably elegant, these vintage goldtone clip-on earrings have all the presence of signed designer jewelry—although their mysterious maker left no calling card. Each earring begins with a sculptural double-scroll top connected by a small patterned square to a larger open door-knocker drop. Tiny hammered dimples cover the front surfaces, catching the light beautifully, while raised bands and curled terminals give the design an opulent Etruscan Revival flavor. The articulated lower sections move freely, adding just enough motion without jingling their way through dinner. These are made from good, solid metal and have noticeable weight—the satisfying kind that tells you someone took the construction seriously. The clip backs operate properly and retain their comfortable pads. No maker’s markings were found. Curator’s Note: They look like they should be signed by somebody important. Apparently, the designer wished to remain mysterious and let the earrings do all the bragging.
