Mid-Century Copper Brown Aurora Borealis Clip Earrings

Richly colored vintage clip-on earrings featuring dramatic clusters of copper-brown marquise and domed cabochons. Large faceted Aurora Borealis rhinestones provide flashes of gold, blue and violet, while smaller deep topaz rhinestones add warmth and contrast. The stones are arranged in ornate goldtone prong settings with raised, dimensional construction. The clip mechanisms are marked PAT. PEND., and the earrings likely date from the late 1950s or early 1960s. They are in fair vintage condition. The backs show noticeable finish wear, age-related darkening and areas of oxidation. The Aurora Borealis coating has some scratching and surface wear. Nevertheless, the stones remain striking, and the earrings display beautifully from the front. Measurements: Approximately 1 3/8 inches high by 1 1/2 inches wide. Curator’s Note: They have lived a little—but so have all the best leading ladies. Face forward, these earrings still know exactly how to command the spotlight.
